Alyssa + Tanner’s Oregon Coast Elopement
If you’re dreaming of an Oregon Coast elopement filled with emotion, adventure, and intentional moments, let me introduce you to Alyssa and Tanner aka the newest Mr and Mrs. Bowditch. Their intimate wedding day on the coast was the perfect example of how to create an elopement that feels both laid-back and deeply meaningful.
As a frequent visitor and photographer of the Oregon Coast, I’ve explored some of the most stunning spots along the coast—and this day, with its golden light, cliffside vows, and beachside celebration, is one I’ll never forget.
A Relaxed Start at Rockaway Beach
Their Oregon Coast elopement began the evening before the ceremony with a quiet, cozy night on Rockaway Beach. They ordered pizza, popped open their favorite wine, and spent the evening dancing by the waves. It was a peaceful prelude to their wedding day—no pressure, just presence. These are the kinds of moments that make elopements feel extra special.
Elopement Ceremony at Elk Flats Trail
We began the next day around 3 PM. Alyssa got into her dress, and Tanner prepared for a first look that would go down in elopement history (Tanner is a self-proclaimed emotional guy—and yes, he cried immediately upon seeing her).
We made our way to Elk Flats Trail, one of my favorite Oregon Coast elopement locations. This spot has everything: lush coastal forest, dramatic cliffs, and sweeping views of the Pacific Ocean. It’s an incredible place to share vows, and Alyssa and Tanner made it unforgettable. Their elopement ceremony on the cliffside was deeply personal, emotional, and wildly romantic.
As someone who’s had the privilege of getting to know them over the past year, I’ll admit—I was wiping away a few tears behind the lens.
Sunset Celebration at Nahalem Beach
After the ceremony, we headed to Nahalem Beach, a lesser-known but stunning Oregon coast gem. The couple cut their cake right on the sand, popped champagne, and watched the sun dip behind the waves. The glow was unreal, and the joy? Even better.
This was their dream elopement: intentional, emotional, and centered around what mattered most—the two of them.
How to Elope on the Oregon Coast: Tips for Planning Your Dream Day
1. Choose a Variety of Scenic Locations
Don’t limit yourself to just one backdrop. Alyssa and Tanner chose Rockaway Beach, Elk Flats Trail, and Nahalem Beach—a mix of coastal cliffs, forest trails, and sandy beaches. This gave their gallery a ton of variety and allowed the day to flow naturally.
2. Embrace the Oregon Weather
The coast is known for its moody, ever-changing weather—fog, mist, sun, and everything in between. It’s part of what makes Oregon elopements so cinematic. Bring layers and trust the process. Some of the most magical moments happen in unexpected weather.
3. Personalize Every Detail
Your elopement should reflect you. Whether it’s pizza on the beach, barefoot vows, or skipping the timeline altogether, there’s no wrong way to do it. Want to dance by the ocean? Do it. Want to hike to your ceremony spot? Let’s go.
4. Work With a Local Elopement Photographer
Choosing a photographer who knows the ins and outs of Oregon Coast elopement locations is key. From tide schedules to trail conditions, a local guide can help you build a stress-free, beautiful experience.
